Accountability Means Doing The Right Thing On Your Northwest Arkansas Remodeling Project – No Matter What It Costs Us
Our Value-Centered Approach Delivers On Trust, Reliability, And Peace Of Mind
At Twist & Spout, complete customer satisfaction is always our goal for home remodeling in Northwest Arkansas. The vast majority of the time, we meet this goal on projects of all sizes. But every so often, one of our customers will come to us with a significant concern.
Sometimes, the source of this concern is an error we’ve made during a bath remodel. But in other situations, there’s simply a misunderstanding between us and the homeowner.
In both cases, our basic approach is the same. Namely, we seek to resolve the situation in a way that upholds our standards for accountability and stellar customer service.
This isn’t always the most profitable path for us to take. But it’s the right thing to do. And it’s the only way we want to do business as we serve the larger community.
Rectifying Our Home Remodeling Mistakes
At Twist & Spout, we’re extremely good at what we do. Most of our projects go according to plan, and our near-flawless review ratings reflect this fact.
But, no one is immune to error, regardless of their level of expertise. As a result, on rare occasions, we’ve made some notable mistakes.
A Customer-First Resolution To A Major Bath Remodel Error
For example, on one past project, we failed to properly secure a water line behind a customer’s bathroom wall. The end result of this slip-up was standing water, mold formation, and damage to a newly installed shower panel.
Without a doubt, the mistake was ours, and we immediately owned up to it.
How did we resolve the situation? Not only did we secure the water line and clean up our mess. We replaced all the shower panels, not just the one that was damaged.
This approach ensured we made no money on the project. But it was the only way to live up to our personal ethics and company core values.
Navigating Grey Areas On Our NW Arkansas Projects
In the home remodeling business, customer concerns sometimes fall into a grey area. The contractor hasn’t made a mistake, per se. However, for one reason or another, they and their customer aren’t on the same page regarding outcomes and expectations.
These situations can be difficult to navigate. And if your chosen provider gets locked into a blame game, they can also be exceedingly unpleasant.
A Misunderstanding On A Remodeling Project Backup Plan
Not long ago, we were faced with such a situation. While sourcing materials for a custom bath enclosure, we ordered some corner trim pieces at no extra cost.
These pieces weren’t included in the project design. We just wanted them as a backup measure in case we ran into problems with the enclosure’s complex, multi-angled layout.
As it turned out, the trim wasn’t needed. We nailed the planned installation without them.
But the homeowner thought he was paying for the pieces and wanted to know why they hadn’t been used. We explained the situation, but he wasn’t swayed. Instead, he insisted that we install the trim.
Resolving The Mistake That Wasn’t A Mistake
We knew our customer merely misunderstood the situation. But we also wanted to accommodate him if at all possible. So, we agreed to rework the design so the additional pieces fit.
There was just one problem. We didn’t have enough trim for the only redesign approach that matched the project’s aesthetic.
Our solution? We ordered more of it. And we did so without passing the cost on to our customer.
Did we have to take this extra step? Technically speaking, no. We could have stuck to our guns and left the original installation as it was.
But that’s not how we operate at Twist & Spout. We believe that going the extra mile is not just a slogan. It’s the essential alternative to fostering ill feelings or disappointing you, the homeowner.

Are we always able to make these kinds of accommodations on our Northwest Arkansas projects? Honestly, no. In some situations, the limits of our responsibility are quite plain to see.
But whenever we can, we focus on solutions that favor the customer, whether or not they also favor us. That’s true even when other local providers might draw the line and cut their losses.
